India-China Relations: MEA Stresses Peace Along LAC After Reports of Chinese Troop Movement in Arunachal Pradesh

Following the reports of Chinese forces entering the border region of Upper Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh in India, it has been made clear by India on Tuesday that the condition at the border between India and China will decide their relationship. The condition at the border between the two countries will affect bilateral relations between the two nations.

It is clear from the Ministry of External Affairs that maintenance of peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is of utmost importance. Though the spokesperson from the ministry has not confirmed any intrusion of Chinese troops, his statement implies that the situation at the border in Arunachal Pradesh is abnormal.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at the weekly press conference, "We have always emphasized that matters related to the border areas between India and China are of the utmost seriousness. Maintaining peace and stability in these areas is of paramount importance. We have also made it clear that the state of border affairs will reflect our broader bilateral relationship.
