Jasprit Bumrah joins Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan's club and becomes third fast bowler to do so
India vs Australia, 2nd Test: Jasprit Bumrah has now joined the club of legendary Indian fast bowlers Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan, who have taken 50 Test wickets in a calendar year. Bumrah achieved this feat in his 11th Test of 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is Indian fast bowler celebrated his 31st birthday in great style today i.e. on 6 December 2024. In fact, he became the first fast bowler to take 50 Test wickets in 2024 on this special day. He achieved this feat on the first day of the Pink Ball Test match being played with Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The Indian bowler got the Australian opener, Usman Khawaja, caught out by Rohit Sharma in Australia's first innings when he was only batting at 13 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah has now joined the club of legendary Indian fast bowlers Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan, who have taken 50 Test wickets in a calendar year. He achieved this feat in his 11th Test of the year 2024. Kapil Dev remains the Indian fast bowler to take the most wickets in a year, taking 75 Test wickets in the year 1983, he took 74 wickets in 1979. Zaheer Khan took 51 wickets in 2002.
So far in the year 2024, Jasprit Bumrah has performed brilliantly with the ball in all formats of cricket. He is at the top with 65 wickets in 19 matches so far in 2024 in all formats of cricket. During this, he has done the feat of 5 wickets 3 times and 4 wickets 2 times.
Besides Tests, he has done considerably well in limited-overs cricket. He played an important part in India's T20 World Cup win in June, taking 15 wickets in 8 matches and emerging third in the list of wicket-takers of the tournament.
