The first match of a five-match Test series for England and India is being played at Leeds' Heading. England won the toss and asked India to bat initially on Friday. India, with those amazing centuries by Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill, has managed to score 359 runs for 3 wickets in the first innings by stumps on the first day. Shubman Gill is unbeaten at 127* and Rishabh Pant is unbeaten at 65*. They are both at the crease. Ben Stokes took 2 wickets for England, while Brydon Carse took one wicket.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal came on the field as openers for India. Both the batsmen faced the England bowlers well and gave India a great start. There was a partnership of 91 runs for the first wicket between the two batsmen. This partnership was broken in the 24.5th over when KL Rahul was caught out in the slip on a personal score of 42 runs. After KL Rahul, Sai Sudarshan could not show any wonders in the debut Test match and returned to the pavilion without opening the account.

Soon after two setbacks, captain Shubman Gill came to support Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both players faced the England bowlers well and shared a partnership of 129 runs in 164 balls for the third wicket. This partnership was broken in the 52.3rd over when Yashasvi Jaiswal got out after scoring a century. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed after scoring a brilliant 101 runs in 159 balls with 16 fours and 1 six.
