Harmanpreet Kaur Becomes Highest-Ranked Indian in T20s, Equals Mithali Raj

The captain of the women’s cricket team of India, Harmanpreet Kaur, is the highest-ranked Indian player in the shortest format of the game and equals the record of the legendary player, Mithali Raj. They both achieved this record the same number of times – a total of 12 times. Shefali Verma (8) and Smriti Mandhana (8) are tied at the second position.

Harmanpreet Kaur scored 68 runs in 43 balls with one six and nine fours in the fifth match of the T20 series between India and Sri Lanka, which took place at the Greenfield International Stadium. Harmanpreet Kaur added 61 runs with Amanjot Kaur when five wickets had been down for 77 runs.

On the other hand, Shefali Verma, who aggregated 241 runs from only five matches in the series at the average of 80.33, was declared Player of the Series. This was the third time the 21-year-old had been awarded this title. With this, Shefali became the joint-first Indian to win the most Player of the Series awards.

Apart from Shefali, Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma have each been awarded this title three times. Talking about the match, India scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored for India with 68 runs, while Amanzor Kaur made 21 runs and Arundhati Reddy made an unbeaten 27 runs.

In reply, the Sri Lankan team could only manage 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. Opener Hasini Perera scored 65 runs for this team, while Imesha Dulani made 50 runs. By winning this match by 15 runs, India clean swept the series 5-0.
