Google's new digital weapon: Scammers will no longer be able to do tricks, Safety Charter launched in India
Google Safety Charter: In view of the increasing cases of online scams in India, Google has taken a big step. The company has launched the 'Google Safety Charter', which will help protect users from cyber fraud and provide a safe browsing experience.

Online fraud cases are steadily increasing in the country, where on a daily basis, thousands fall prey to phishing websites, bogus apps, and fraud calls. Keeping this in view, Google has started a dedicated India-oriented security initiative. The corporation has announced a fresh cyber safety charter called 'Google Safety Charter', which is aimed at securing Internet users and keeping trust in digital media in place.
Google Safety Charter is actually a cybersecurity charter, which has been specially drawn up keeping in view Indian users. Its priority is securing the Internet better, securing individuals against fraud as well as scams, and creating a responsible Internet environment.
According to this charter, priority would be given by Google only to those apps and websites that follow its policy of permission for use of user data in a transparent and secure manner. Apart from this, Google is introducing new systems in the Play Store that would be able to detect fake, cloned, and monetary fraud apps even beforehand and disable them. Through this, the company would from time to time send warnings, suggestions, as well as safety alerts, to users for browsing in a safe manner.
Along with the rapidly growing digital payments and online services in India, cases of cyber fraud have also increased to dangerous levels. Fake KYC calls, incidents of stealing money by clicking on links, and phishing attacks through WhatsApp or SMS have become common. In such a situation, this initiative of Google is a big and necessary step to keep Indian users safe online.
Google said that many popular financial and payment apps like PhonePe, Paytm, and Bajaj Finserv will be a part of this charter. These companies will add additional security and transparency features to their platforms so that the experience can be more secure for the users.
Google will soon give the “Safety Verified” tag to those apps on the Play Store that follow this safety charter. Users have been advised to check the rating, download number, and permissions sought before downloading any app. Also, it will be important to take the safety notifications received from Google seriously.
Through this new initiative, users will be able to trust such apps that meet Google's security standards. This will ensure the safety of their personal information and money. Also, it will be easy to identify fake and fraudulent apps, which will give users a more secure experience on the Internet.
