China Orders Major EV Recall: Tesla, Xiaomi and Leapmotor Cars Hit by Door Handle Safety Concerns
Tesla Recalls 3 Million Vehicles: Tesla and other Chinese car companies have recalled over 4 million vehicles, primarily due to concerns about car door handles.
A recall of 3 million units of the company's cars, mostly because of the vehicles' door handles, has been issued by Tesla and other Chinese car companies. The American car manufacturer is recalling almost 3 million cars, which have been manufactured and sold in China. The recalled vehicles include the Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Model S due to safety problems regarding Tesla's door handles.
As per media reports, this is the biggest recall of the year. It comes only a few months after the Chinese government declared in February that they will start banning hidden car door handles that are usually installed in Tesla electric vehicles as well as Chinese EVs starting next year.
China has been keeping an eye on hidden door handles, flush door handles, or car door handles following accident cases involving electric vehicles in China and around the world where hidden doors did not work, leaving people trapped inside them.
