BCCI Struggles for Home Title Rights Amid Higher Base Price
BCCI seeks home title rights sponsor as base price rises to Rs 4.75 crore; Google Gemini and Spinny in talks.
NEW DELHI — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is navigating an unusual deadlock in securing a title sponsor for its bilateral home international series. Despite issuing an Invitation to Tender (ITT) in late July, the board failed to secure a formal bidder at its required financial valuation before the August 13 bid submission deadline.
Industry sources confirm the primary point of friction is a notable jump in pricing. The BCCI raised the reserve base price to ₹4.75 crore per match—up from the ₹4.2 crore per fixture currently paid by existing rights holder IDFC First Bank under its 2023 agreement.
Direct Negotiations Replace Formal Tender
Faced with a lack of formal tender submissions meeting expectations, board officials have shifted toward direct negotiations with select corporate entities. Broadcasters and sports marketing executives report that tech platform Google Gemini, pre-owned car platform Spinny, and insurance firm SBI Life have entered preliminary discussions with cricket administrators.
