The South Goa Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has issued a bailable arrest warrant against Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder and CEO of Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd. The reason cited is that the latter has failed to appear before the Commission despite being issued a previous notice.

The Commission has directed the Bengaluru police to produce Bhavish Aggarwal before the Commission in Margao on the 23rd of February at 10:30 am. According to the order, he can be released on bail of ₹1.47 lakh (approximately $1.47 million USD). This information was provided in an order issued by Commission Chairman Sanjay Chodankar.

The Commission had served a notice to Bhavish Aggarwal to appear in person on February 4th. They were supposed to explain to the Commission the current condition of the complainant's bike, the reasons for the long repairs, and the non-delivery of the same. But they failed to appear.

The Commission is hearing a complaint from a 26-year-old man. According to the complainant, he purchased an Ola S1 Pro second-generation scooter on August 16, 2023, for ₹1.47 lakh. Immediately after delivery, the scooter's motor began making unusual noises and the touchscreen malfunctioned, requiring a reboot every hour.

The complainant stated that he reported these manufacturing defects to the company but received no satisfactory response. After complaining several times at the Mormugao store, he took the scooter to the company showroom. The scooter was repaired there and returned, with the repair cost quoted at ₹18,627.

According to the complaint, the previous problems persisted even after the repairs, and a new issue with Bluetooth connectivity also emerged. The scooter is currently in the company's custody.

The complainant has demanded a full refund of ₹1.47 lakh from the Commission. He also sought compensation of ₹50,000, citing loss of value, hardship, mental anguish, and harassment.

According to the Commission's order, if the hearing is not held on the scheduled date, legal action in the case could be intensified. This case could become an important precedent for consumer rights and corporate accountability.
