Empowering Dreams: The Resilience of Tanushree Rana

Life took an unexpected turn for Tanushree during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her mother, already grappling with health issues, saw a further deterioration in her condition, ultimately succumbing to the virus. Tanushree, just months away from her Std. X board exams, faced not only the immense personal loss but also the daunting challenge of navigating her academic journey without the guidance and emotional support of her mother.

Undeterred by the emotional turmoil and the difficult circumstances at home, Tanushree displayed remarkable courage and academic prowess. Against all odds, she secured an impressive 94% inher Std. X exams, a testament to her unwavering determination and intellectual capabilities. It’s important to note that she achieved this without the luxury of guidance or tuition, showcasing her innate brilliance and capabilities.

However, the financial burden on Tanushree’s family loomed large. Her father, a vegetable vendor and daily wage earner, struggled to make ends meet with an annual income of just INR 90,000. The loss of Tanushree’s mother, who contributed to the household income through part-time work, further exacerbated the financial challenges.

In a poignant move to secure her education, the family decided to sell the mother’s jewellery to pay for Tanushree’s college fees. It was during this difficult period that a school teacher, recognizing Tanushree’s potential and the financial strain on her family, recommended the Yuva Unstoppable scholarship programme.

Tanushree, grateful for this lifeline, underwent the entrance interview for the scholarship and was awarded INR 50,000 to cover all her education expenses for a year.
