Another medal for India was bagged at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. Nethra Kumanan bagged a bronze medal after finishing third in the women’s rowing dinghy final that happened on Friday. Netra finished sixth in the first race and won the second race and thereby got the third position. The 29-year-old Indian Sailor finished behind Sophia Gail Montgomery of Thailand and Ang Jania of Singapore in the Kayoh Yacht Harbour.
Netra, who is a 29-year-old from Chennai, scored a total of 14 points to finish third. Netra scored 7 points in the qualifying race and seven in the final race. Sophia Montgomery of Thailand won the gold medal with 5 points, and Ang Jania of Singapore with 13 points.
In sailing competitions, athletes receive points based on their placing in each race. The first-place finisher is awarded one point, and the player with the lowest total points is declared the winner. Netra performed brilliantly in her final two races, securing first place in one race and sixth in the other.
