Donald Trump in action mood, may ban Chinese AI tool DeepSeek
DeepSeek: Administration officials are also discussing removing the DeepSeek chatbot from app stores and imposing limits on US cloud service providers offering this AI model to customers. These discussions are still in the initial stages.

The Trump administration is considering banning the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek from US government devices. This step can be taken due to national security concerns. According to a Wall Street Journal report, US officials are concerned about DeepSeek's user data management. The company claims that it stores users' data in servers located in China.
Administration officials are also discussing withdrawing the DeepSeek chatbot from the app stores and imposing limits for US cloud computing firms offering the AI model to clients. The discussion is at the preliminary stage. The low-cost AI model of DeepSeek resulted in a sharp drop in the global market in January, with investors opining it can be a threat to the market leaders in the current AI market.
21 US attorneys general urged Congress to pass legislation to bar the government from downloading and using the DeepSeek tool on Thursday. The White House is yet to make any official statement regarding the matter.
