CM Race Heats Up in Karnataka: Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar Await High Command Verdict
The tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar over the Chief Minister's post has come to the fore in the Karnataka Congress. Siddaramaiah stated that he would abide by the high command's decision, whether he had to remain Chief Minister or not. The JDS took a dig at Kharge's statement, calling him a "rubber-stamp president."
Now, the Karnataka Congress infighting has come to the fore. The battle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the Chief Minister's chair has intensified. Amid the leadership dispute, MLAs supporting both the leaders have now arrived in Delhi to negotiate for the CM position.
Current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said if the party high command so decides, he will continue in the top post and abide by the decision of the high command. The statement of Siddaramaiah is being considered significant as he had recently claimed that he would be the Chief Minister for the entire five years and would present the budget for the remaining period of his tenure.
He met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru on Saturday night and had a lengthy conversation. On Monday, he told reporters here that the final decision on leadership changes rests with the high command, and both he and his deputy (Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar) must accept it.

The Chief Minister said, "We will accept the high command's decision. If they decide I should continue (as CM), I will. Ultimately, whatever the high command decides, I must accept it. Shivakumar must also accept it."
Reacting to Mallikarjun Kharge's statement regarding the alleged leadership tussle in the state, saying the high command will decide, the Janata Dal (Secular) on Monday quipped that he has no authority to run the party and is a "rubber-stamp president." This has also exposed the sycophancy within the Congress party.
