Big decision of Jharkhand High Court, upheld the appointments of 6800 constables

Jharkhand High Court has justified the appointment of 6800 constables in the state and rejected the petitions challenging it. Sunil Tudu and other candidates had filed 65 petitions challenging the appointment, which were being heard simultaneously in the High Court. Acting Chief Justice S. The division bench headed by Chandrashekhar pronounced the verdict on Friday. The court had reserved the decision after the arguments and hearing of all the parties on the petitions were completed on March 15.

The state published an advertisement in 2015 to fill the position of constable, and the appointment process was finished in 2018. The petitioners claimed that the police manual was broken by the procedures used by the Jharkhand government to make the appointment. The requirement of minimum qualifying marks in the rules is likewise incorrect.

The High Court had earlier said during the hearing on these petitions that its final order would affect the appointment process. A notice was issued to the appointed constables regarding this and they were given an opportunity to present their views. Here, the state government, while presenting its stand during the hearing, had said that it has the right to frame rules by making changes in the rules.
