Andhra Pradesh Allows Trained Ayurvedic Doctors to Perform Select Surgeries Independently
The Andhra Pradesh government has allowed Ayurvedic doctors to perform select surgeries independently. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav granted this permission to trained postgraduate Ayurvedic doctors. The government has decided to integrate the Indian medical system with modern medicine. Qualified Ayurvedic doctors can perform 39% of general and 19% of ENT and ophthalmological treatments.
This is because the Health Minister for Andhra Pradesh, Satya Kumar Yadav, has given permission to specially qualified post-graduate ayurvedic practitioners to conduct some surgeries independently. The government has also decided to mix Ayurvedic with modern medicines. This was announced in a government statement.
"Yadav has approved appropriately trained postgraduate Ayurvedic doctors in surgery to perform surgeries independently," it said.
According to the release, the Health Minister has given his consent to Ayurvedic doctors in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Council of Indian Medicine, 2020, and the National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine.
