Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the opening session of the 'Anti-Terrorism Conference 2024' on Thursday. This two-day conference is being held in New Delhi by the National Investigation Agency Home Ministry. The conference will focus on promoting coordination among various stakeholders to combat terrorism through an integrated, whole-of-government approach. In a statement, the Home Ministry said that the programme, organized by the National Investigation Agency, aims to shape anti-terrorism policies and strategies in the years ahead. The ministry said that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to eradicate this menace by adopting a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.

The two-day conference organized by the NIA will bring senior police officers, officials of central agencies and experts in the fields of law, forensics and technology to discuss vital issues like legal framework to deal with terrorism, prosecution challenges and role of emerging technologies. The discussions will also cover international legal cooperation and strategies to dismantle terrorist networks operating across India.

The main focus of the 'Counterterrorism Conference-2024' is to develop synergy among various stakeholders by establishing channels for coordinated action against the threat of terrorism in the spirit of a 'whole of government approach', the Home Ministry said. It is also aimed at presenting valuable inputs for future policy making, he added. The two-day deliberations at the conference will include discussing an evolving prosecution and legal framework in Anti-terrorism investigations, sharing experiences and good practices, challenges-opportunities related to emerging technologies, international legal cooperation, and strategies to dismantle the terror ecosystem in various Anti-terrorism theatres across India.

The conference will be attended by senior police officers from states and union territories, officers from departments and agencies at the centre that deal with issues concerning Anti-terrorism, and experts in related fields like law, forensic science, and technology. The Home Ministry said the annual conference has, over the years, become a meeting point for operational forces, technical, legal, and forensic experts and agencies engaged in Anti-terrorism where issues affecting national security and threats posed by terrorism are discussed.
