The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has postponed the decision on the appeal of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat till August 16. Vinesh had filed an appeal against disqualification from the final of the women's freestyle 50 kg category at the Paris Olympics. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has informed in a statement that now this decision will be given on August 16 at 9.30 pm Indian time. On the postponement of the decision by CAS, Vinesh Phogat's uncle Mahavir Phogat said that we are waiting for this decision every day for 5-6 days. Dates are being given one after the other. On one hand, we are happy that the decision may come in our favor, on the other hand, there is talk of the decision being postponed. Still, we hope that the decision will come in our favor.

Even before the CAS postponed the decision, Mahavir Phogat had expressed hope that the decision would be in Vinesh's favor. He had said that he would persuade Vinesh to withdraw her retirement and motivate her to participate in the 2028 Olympics. Mahavir Phogat said that Vinesh's preparations were hampered due to the sit-in protest. Otherwise, she would have competed in her 53 kg weight category.
