Accused admitted to hospital before court appearance, charges not framed in money laundering case

The process of framing charges before the PMLA court in the money laundering case related to the school recruitment scam in West Bengal could not be completed on Monday, as one of the accused's health deteriorated and he was taken to the hospital. The money laundering case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The accused Sujoy Krishna Bhadra suddenly fell down after feeling dizzy when he was being produced in the PMLA court. After this, he was taken to the government SSKM hospital. The accused's lawyer informed the court about this. After this, the PMLA court postponed the hearing of the case till January 2. The court has also directed that Bhadra's medical report be presented in the court on the next date.
Others implicated in the case include Arpita Mukherjee and Kuntal Ghosh, who have been given bail. They appeared in court by the order. Former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee was also produced in the court. Supreme Court on 1 February 2025 had ordered bail to Partha Chatterjee. However, the court had said that the lower court would frame charges against the accused and complete the testimony of sensitive witnesses in the case by 30 January.
