Vivo, iQOO Phones in India Could Soon Run on Origin OS Instead of Funtouch OS
Vivo is preparing to bring its Origin OS interface to India. Currently, the company's phones run on Funtouch OS, but a tipster claims that they will soon be upgraded to Origin OS. Android 16-based Origin OS 6 is about to launch in China, and it is expected that the Vivo X300 series will arrive with it. A gradual rollout in India is also expected.

Vivo is launching the new Origin OS to Chinese users. Most Vivo and iQOO devices currently run on Android 15-based Origin OS 5. Next month, Android 16-based Origin OS 6 will be launched. The Vivo X300 series, launching soon, will be the first to feature Origin OS 6 out of the box. Now, a tipster says that the firm is also going to replace Funtouch OS with Origin OS in India.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) posted on X that Vivo and iQOO smartphones in India will soon be running the Origin OS interface. While he described this as "confirmed," it can't be considered confirmed until an official update is received from the company.
Today, Vivo and iQOO mobile phones in India use Funtouch OS. If the above info is correct, Vivo will phase out Funtouch OS over time and implement Origin OS. This will give Indian users a unified experience, as in China.
This isn't the first time that Origin OS has been discussed in India. A few weeks ago, a user on Reddit's r/Vivo thread, who identified themselves as a Vivo India employee, claimed that Android 16-based Origin OS 6 would be rolling out in India. However, the user didn't provide a timeline. It could start with high-end models and later reach mid-range and entry-level phones.
Meanwhile, Vivo has confirmed that the Android 16-based Origin OS 6 will be launched in China on October 10. The Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro could be the first smartphones to run on the latest Origin OS 6.
