Meta's Muse Image AI Feature Faces Backlash, Company Removes Tool After Privacy Concerns
Instagram AI Feature, Meta Muse Image: Meta has removed its new Muse Image AI tool just four days after its launch on Instagram. But what led Meta to make such a drastic decision so soon after its launch? Learn more about this issue related to privacy, security, and digital cloning...
Meta developed a novel AI tool known as Muse Image for Instagram, which was announced on July 8, 2026. The purpose of its creation was increasing creative productivity. A user was able to generate a brand-new AI image from any pictures posted on an account on Instagram by just entering the name of the account into the prompt.
Immediately after its launch, users began criticizing this development on various social platforms. In particular, people noted that using other people's photos for creating AI images without their prior agreement constitutes a breach of personal data protection. Moreover, the ability to create artificial AI images of any individual is extremely dangerous in terms of identity fraud and forgery of documents.
This innovation became particularly problematic not only for common users but also for Hollywood stars since the actors' agency, CAA, which represents Tom Cruise and Zendaya, disapproved of the mentioned feature.
