IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians Bounce Back with Dominant Win, GT Captain Gill Points to Middle-Overs Failure

The winning streak of Mumbai Indians came to an end when they beat Gujarat Titans by 99 runs in the Indian Premier League 2026. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first. Mumbai Indians managed to score 199/5 while batting. Gujarat Titans got all out for 100 runs in 15.5 overs.

Captain Shubman Gill said after the match, "To be honest, we gave away too many runs in the middle overs. On such a wicket, a score of 160-170 would have been fine. But, we learned a lot from this match. Will this make you rethink your strategy?" He replied, "It's a small setback, but now we have to go out and play some matches, so hopefully we'll get back to winning ways."

What do you think you could have done better? Gill responded, "The wicket was a bit slow. I don't think we bowled in the right areas. The length balls weren't coming on well. Some balls were coming on, some weren't, and some were staying low. I think we could have bowled more consistently at that length in the middle overs, which we didn't."
