Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom: Star Spinner Declined Citizenship Offers from India, Australia
Rashid Khan has made a significant revelation in his new book, "Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom." He revealed that a senior BCCI official offered him Indian citizenship to play for India, but he declined it for the sake of his country.
The issue of loyalty towards Afghanistan has always been a constant with Rashid Khan, but there is an additional twist to it revealed in his book. According to some reports, Rashid revealed how he had been approached by India and Australia to play cricket for their teams. But he refused as he wanted to play only for Afghanistan.
This revelation is made in his new book, titled "Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom." In his new book, Rashid recounts offers from India and Australia, stating that both countries contacted him, but he responded immediately based on his commitment to Afghanistan. The book quotes him as saying, "I received such offers from both Australia and India, but I told them that if I won't play for my country, I won't play for any other country."
The book goes into more detail about this India-related incident. Rashid explains that the offer came during the 2023 IPL season. At the time, he was one of the tournament's biggest names and a key player for the Gujarat Titans team. He explains that a team official told him that a senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India wanted to meet him.
