Amid Regional Tensions, Three Indian-Flagged Oil Tankers Cross Strait of Hormuz Without Incident

Sonowal said that under PM Narendra Modi, the government is prioritizing the security of India’s maritime and energy sector. He further added that the Ministry is ensuring that all Indian seafarers remain safe and secure.

According to news agency PTI, 'Desh Vaibhav' is scheduled to arrive at Gujarat's Vadinar port on June 24, while 'Desh Vibhor' will reach Sikka port on the same day. Meanwhile, 'Sanmar Herald' is expected to arrive at Odisha's Paradip port on July 1.

This development comes at a time when vessel movement through the Strait of Hormuz is showing improvement following a temporary agreement between the US and Iran. According to the US military, over 17 million barrels of oil were transported through this vital maritime route on June 20.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that 55 commercial vessels safely transited the strait on Saturday. CENTCOM stated that US forces are present in the region and are ensuring full compliance with the agreement reached with Iran.

However, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) recently alleged that the US and Israel had violated the ceasefire and announced the closure of the strait.

Despite this, US Vice President JD Vance stated that there are no indications of the waterway being closed and expressed confidence that the ceasefire would hold.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil transport routes. A significant portion of crude oil exported from Gulf nations reaches various countries across the globe via this route. It is also considered vital for India's energy security.
