The Government of India has taken comprehensive technical and legal measures to counter the increasing cyber-attacks on India. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Rajya Sabha on Friday that tangible actions are being taken by the government to resolve this and the general public is also being sensitized. At the same time, the Cyber Swachhta Kendra (CSK) provides free tools and important information related to cyber security to protect citizens from malware and botnet attacks. Apart from this, the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC) ensures the security of the country's critical digital infrastructure.
According to government data, the number of cyber attacks in the country was 13.91 lakh in 2022, which increased to 15.92 lakh in 2023 and reached 20.41 lakh in 2024. Recently, the government foiled major cyber attacks during the G20 summit and the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony.
