Government Orders People with Piped Natural Gas to Surrender LPG Connections Amid Gas Crisis
The government has taken a major decision amid the gas crisis. Consumers with PNG connections will no longer receive domestic LPG cylinders and will be required to surrender their connections. Strict action has been ordered in Gujarat to prevent hoarding.
In the midst of the gas shortage, the government has announced that individuals who have both a PNG connection and a domestic LPG connection will not be allowed to retain or refill their domestic LPG cylinders from any oil company or its distributor. They have to surrender their domestic LPG connections immediately.
The Gujarat DGP In-Charge told the media at Surat that the police have been instructed to deal very strictly with individuals found hoarding or selling LPG cylinders at high rates.
Rao told reporters that in a meeting with collectors, district supply officers, and officials from the Civil Supplies Department, he directed that vehicles belonging to LPG agencies and distributors not be stopped so that supplies continue uninterrupted. He added that strict inspections will be conducted to ensure that LPG cylinders are safe and leak-free.
