Google Gemini: AI tool made controversial remarks on PM Modi, Minister of State for IT warned Google

Rajeev Chandrashekhar, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Technology, has issued a strong warning to Google about its AI tool Gemini. Google has issued this warning in response to Gemini's response to a query concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rajeev claims that the response from the AI tool Gemini directly violates several Criminal Code sections in addition to IT regulations.

A user had asked Google's AI chat tool Gemini whether Narendra Modi is a fascist? In response to this question, Gemini said, 'Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India and the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has been accused of implementing such policies. Some experts have called it fascist. These allegations are based on many aspects. This also includes the Hindu nationalist ideology of the BJP.

Google Gemini has also been accused of bias since it labelled Modi as a fascist, but it did not provide a clear response when the same question was asked about former US President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine.

On X, this Gemini response has been shared. In response to this post, Rajiv Chandrashekhar stated that numerous sections of the Criminal Code as well as Rule 3(1)(b) of the Intermediaries Rules of the IT Act (IT Rules) are being violated. In addition to tagging Google AI and India, he also mentioned the IT Ministry.
