Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition to debut in China with upgraded camera, bigger screen
Samsung is soon launching its new Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition in China. This phone will be an upgraded version of the company's flagship foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7. Reports suggest it's codenamed W26 and could feature a slimmer design, improved cameras, and a larger display. Its launch is scheduled for October 11th in China.

Samsung is set to introduce its new Galaxy Z Fold 7 model in China this month. The firm recently made this announcement. The upcoming book-like phone is reported to be a special variant of the top-end foldable phone, which was launched in India and overseas markets in July 2025. Although the firm has not revealed much information so far, reports indicate the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition is codenamed W26 and is said to incorporate some slight changes.
According to Samsung's China website, the new foldable smartphone will launch in China on October 11th at 4:00 PM (1:30 PM IST). The silhouette of the teaser image reveals that it will be a Z-style foldable handset, resembling the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It is shown in black and red, with a gold frame.
While details haven't been disclosed, it is said to be a thinner version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It's supposed to have some minor updates, including a slightly better camera and a bigger screen.
It's worth noting that Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition in China last year. That model featured a thinner and lighter design, along with an improved camera system and display compared to the standard model. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition featured an 8-inch internal and 6.5-inch external display, while the standard model featured a 7.60-inch internal and 6.3-inch external display.
Samsung also upgraded the main wide-angle camera of that model to 200 megapixels, while the rest of the lenses were kept the same.
According to a report by SamMobile, the upcoming foldable phone is codenamed W26 and will be available only in China. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition was also introduced in China with a limited launch, and only 400,000 to 500,000 units were produced.
The device is expected to feature the same internal hardware as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. The phone may run on Android 16-based One UI 8.0.
Samsung is also preparing to launch its tri-fold smartphone later this year. According to reports, it could be unveiled during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1.
