For the first time, a hole in the uterus was treated during pregnancy, this is how doctors did wonders

For the first time, doctors successfully treated a hole in a woman's uterus during pregnancy, saving both mother and child. The 22-year-old woman, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, was admitted to Rainbow Children's Hospital in Bengaluru after suffering severe abdominal pain in the sixth month of her pregnancy. His pulse was running fast. Blood pressure was very low.

Investigation revealed that a lot of blood had collected in the woman's stomach. There was also bleeding in the uterus. Perforation of the uterus and ovarian torsion (internal bleeding and damage to her uterine wall) were also detected. However, the baby's heartbeat was fine. To save the child and mother, a team of doctors led by Dr. Meghna Reddy performed laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure used to examine organs inside the abdomen.

The team found that the patient had a hole in her upper uterus. However, the reason why the hole was formed could not be made clear. This was the woman's first pregnancy. He had not had any surgery before. Generally, abortion is performed in cases of uterine perforation, but for the first time, the doctors decided to use laparoscopic and fetoscopic as well as laparoscopic stitches to treat the perforation.

Doctors controlled the bleeding and treated the patient, giving hope to the woman and her child. The woman started labor pain in the 37th week. She gave birth to the child through normal delivery. Both mother and child are fine. This case has been published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
