Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, a distinguished English scholar, addressed himself in French today to criticize Russia for bringing Pakistan into the anti-terrorism gathering.

Shashi Tharoor spoke out against Russia for letting Pakistan participate in the meeting and terming it a terrorist hub.

At a meeting with the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Leonid Slutsky, Tharoor spoke to him in flawless French and reminded him that a nation like Pakistan, which shelters terrorists, could not be ignored.

Slutsky spoke in French in the meeting, and Tharoor responded in the same language. The video of the conversation has gone viral on social media, earning the Congress MP a lot of praise.

Slutsky told Tharoor that Russia has planned a conference with the speakers of six parliaments - Turkey, Iran, Russia, India, Pakistan, and China, adding that the theme of the conference will be "the fight against terrorism".

Slutsky said Russia has held such a conference six times before. He said the venue and time for the meeting have not been decided yet. Slutsky made it clear to Tharoor that he believes the conference will take place early next year.

Slutsky said that if we want not just an exchange of views but real action to curb terrorism in the region, we need to be as strict as possible when discussing such an agenda.
