The FASTag Annual Pass was rolled out by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Independence Day, and its impact was reflected heavily on the first day itself. With a record response, over 1.40 lakh passengers bought and activated the pass. Meanwhile, over 1.39 lakh transactions took place at 1,150 toll plazas nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), this new facility received a great response from highway and expressway users. Reports suggest that 20-25 thousand people were simultaneously active on the 'Rajamargyatra App'. The special thing is that the pass users are getting information about zero deduction on toll through SMS, which has made the journey even smoother.

NHAI said that to ensure that the pass holders do not face any kind of problem, officers and nodal officers have been appointed at every toll plaza. Apart from this, 1033 National Highway Helpline has been strengthened for grievance redressal, where more than 100 new executives have been deployed.

To buy this pass, passengers have to pay Rs 3,000 only once. This facility is valid for one year or up to 200 toll transactions (whichever is earlier). The most important thing is that after getting the pass, the hassle of recharging FASTag again and again is over.

Currently, the FASTag annual pass is only for non-private vehicles. Once paid, this pass can be activated via 'Rajamargyatra App' or through the NHAI website. The activation process is also very quick, and the pass gets activated in less than two hours after payment.
