Deepakraj Murarilal Lala – Founder of Deepak Lala and Company; contributing towards the Economic and Social Development of Community and Country

Deepakraj Lala achieved the remarkable feat of passing his CA Final exams before the age of 21. He has actively contributed to his alma mater, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, by serving as Convenor of its Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Study Circle. Furthermore, he has been compiling Direct Taxes Update in the monthly newsletter published by the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of the institute. 

Deepakraj Lala has dedicated himself to helping individuals and entities manage their statutory compliances. Additionally, he promotes financial discipline by offering services in Financial Planning and Wealth Management. To adapt to the globalization of the economy in the digital era, he continuously updates his knowledge on transfer pricing and international taxation, staying abreast of the latest trends.

With over 25 years of experience, Deepakraj Lala has focused on supporting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). His expertise in this field has led him to write articles and speak at various forums, sharing his insights and knowledge. His contributions to the MSME sector were recently recognized when he received the Award for Outstanding Contribution as a Chartered Accountant for MSMEs from the World Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) on 27th June 2023 in Scope Complex, Delhi. This accolade serves as a testament to his dedication and expertise in fostering the growth of MSMEs, an essential sector of the economy. Notably, this date is celebrated as World MSME Day.

In addition to his professional achievements, Deepakraj Lala is currently in the process of writing a book on MSMEs. This endeavor aims to disseminate his knowledge further and provide valuable guidance to entrepreneurs and individuals involved in the MSME sector.

Corporate Governance is a subject that Deepakraj Lala is deeply passionate about. He believes that integrity should be at the forefront of every business. Integrity serves as one of the fundamental principles of good corporate governance, emphasizing the commitment of leaders and management to the company’s core values and mission above personal interests. To promote good corporate governance, Deepakraj Lala intends to leverage his professional excellence by serving as an Independent Director and helping companies achieve these objectives. 

Furthermore, he actively coordinates with various corporates for the execution of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. Deepakraj Lala believes that CSR is an ideal way for companies to give back to the community and address environmental and social issues.

The combination of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors has gained significance in evaluating the sustainability and ethical impact of investments in businesses and companies. Deepakraj Lala recognizes the importance of ESG and actively advocates for its consideration in decision-making processes.

Looking to the future, Deepakraj Lala plans to write a thesis and earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). This pursuit reflects his desire to contribute to the world while expanding his own knowledge, experience, and ability to provide better services. His commitment to personal growth and professional excellence is commendable.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Deepakraj Lala is actively involved in community service through his association with Rotary International. His dedication and contributions to the organization have been recognized with awards such as the Best Rotarian Award and the Avenues of Service Award. He is also a Member of the Paul Harris Society. He has recently served as Assistant Governor of Rotary Mumbai District 3141. As a Rotarian and supporter of Polio Eradication, he is participating in this humanitarian endeavor by being a member of the PolioPlus Society of Rotary District 3141.

Notably, he organized three International Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) from India. All were held for the First Time in their respective countries. It began with the First International RYLA in the Kingdom of Bhutan, followed by the Maldives and then Myanmar (Burma). These events brought together youth from all across India, fostering leadership development. As a result, each International RYLA led to the emergence of a new leader – a District Rotaract Representative (DRR) in various Rotaract Districts of India.

Deepakraj Lala also actively participates in social activities within the Agrawal Community, contributing to the camaraderie and bonhomie among its members.

Deepakraj Lala’s family includes his wife, Sharda Deepakraj Lala, who is an AMFI & IRDA Certified Financial Advisor and the founder of Siddhantha Wealth Managers. His son, Siddhantha Deepakraj Lala, is currently studying at Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School.
