West Indies Cricket took an important decision and has now entrusted a big responsibility to the limited overs format coach Darren Sammy. Now he has also been appointed as the coach of the West Indies Test team. However, he will replace the current coach of the West Indies Test team Andre Cole in April 2025.

Cricket West Indies director Miles Bascombe has announced this. Cricket West Indies posted on X regarding this, Darren Sammy will be the coach of the senior men's team from April 1, 2025. This announcement has been made by Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket West Indies in St. Vincent.

Darren Sammy reacted to this and posted on X, It is a matter of pride for me to represent the West Indies team in any position in any format of cricket. Although I had not imagined this position. I never thought that I would become a coach, but the way things have happened so far, I have fallen in love with my work. I am very excited about my new role and journey.

West Indies have been a good performer, under coach Darren Sammy in the limited overs format over the years. Since May 2023, West Indies have won 15 out of 28 matches. The Caribbean team has won four out of seven bilateral series during this period. For that matter, West Indies has won four home series regarding T20 International matches, against India, England and South Africa. Coming to the performance of West Indies in T20 under his coaching, it has won 20 out of a total of 30 T20 International matches.

The fact that he is captaining, under the astute leadership of Darren Sammy, the West Indies have won two T20 World Cup titles-2012 and 2016. He has represented West Indies in 38 Tests, 126 ODIs, and 68 T20 Internationals.
