Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna changed the arrangements and fixed days for urgent cases
Supreme Court: The Chief Justice of India has decided to change the arrangements of the Supreme Court. Under this, the benches of the Supreme Court will now be able to hear the partially heard regular and urgent cases on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Supreme Court has made a major decision regarding hearing cases. All routine and urgent matters that have not yet been heard can now be heard by the benches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Regarding the previous setup, the Supreme Court's benches usually hear cases on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday that were referred to as non-miscellaneous. At the same time, Monday and Friday were miscellaneous days when new cases and cases coming after notice were heard.
Recently, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sanjeev Khanna made changes in the system to decrease the pendency of the post-notice cases. According to it, the transfer petitions, bail cases, and other miscellaneous cases will be heard on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Apart from this, no regular case will be heard these days.
According to Supreme Court sources, this change has been made mainly to reduce the pendency of post-notice cases. According to the information, if needed, this arrangement will be reviewed in December 2024 or before. Till now there are a total of 37,317 cases after notice, which include 20,930 main and 16,387 connected cases. At the same time, the number of regular cases is around 21,639, which includes 10,988 main and 10,651 connected cases.
