Pralhad alleged that the state government did not apprise the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) of the current status of Karnataka dams. Pralhad told reporters in Hubli that the state government was only talking about releasing the quantity of water.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Saturday accused Karnataka's Congress government of misleading people over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute with Tamil Nadu. The Union Minister said that the state government is blaming the Center for misleading the people.
Pralhad alleged that the state government did not inform the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) about the current status of Karnataka dams. He said that CWMA is a quasi-judicial body so the central government cannot interfere in the matter.
Pralhad, who is holding the Coal and Mines department, told reporters in Hubli that the state government is only talking about releasing the quantity of water. It did not say that he was not in a position to release the water. He further said that in his capacity as a Member of Parliament, he has cooperated with the state government to protect the interests of the state and will continue to do so in the future.
He said that Chief Ministers of the states related to this dispute, Siddaramaiah and Stalin are members of INDIA, hence Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge should call a meeting of both and resolve this issue.
