BSF Launches ‘E-Leave Module’ for 2.7 Lakh Personnel to Digitize Leave Applications
BSF: With the "E-Leave Module," BSF personnel can now apply for leave online, track the status of their application in real time, and request leave extensions without any additional paperwork.

The "E-Leave Module" has been inaugurated for the Border Security Force (BSF)'s 2,72,447 personnel (as on 1/1/2025). It will enable officers ranging from constables to ADGs to send leave applications with a single click. Additionally, they will be able to track the status of their application with a single click. Additionally, the balance leave available for each personnel under each category will be reflected within seconds. This project will not only enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of the force but will also eradicate avoidable delays and minimize the hassle of manual paperwork.
Border Security Force Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary inaugurated the e-Leave module of the Prahari mobile application. This application was developed by the Information Technology Branch of the Border Security Force. This initiative is a significant step towards providing digital services to BSF personnel deployed along the border. The e-Leave system will simplify and digitize the leave application, approval, and record management process.
In the current manual system, leave applications had to be submitted in writing on a single page. The application would then reach the concerned officer's desk. If the application was approved by the department head, the information would then be returned to the applicant through the same process. This order moves through several layers. Furthermore, when leave is approved, a copy of the leave is also sent to the service record, which updates the service record. Often, personnel do not keep track of the remaining leave amount under each item, such as CL/EL. Consequently, personnel inadvertently overpay. When he needs leave again, he realizes that he has very little leave left.
With the help of the 'e-leave module,' BSF personnel can now apply for leave online, track the status of their application in real time, and request leave extensions without any additional paperwork. This service will also ensure automatic updating of records, which will benefit both the individual guard and the organization. This means that a personnel's service record will now be automatically updated. Anyone can check that record at any time. BSF personnel on border duty receive sixty days of EL and 15 days of CL per year. If a personnel is posted at a place, such as a headquarters, where the working week is five days, they receive three days of EL and eight days of CL.
