American skier Mikaela Shiffrin created history by registering 100th win in Alpine Skiing World Cup
Alpine Skiing World Cup: Mikaela Shiffrin, who was out of skiing for two months due to injury, has created history by registering her 100th win in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. After the historic achievement, Shiffrin said that after recovering from the injury, it was important for me to be fit not only physically but also mentally.
American skier Mikaela Shiffrin has set a record with her 100th victory in the Alpine Skiing World Cup after she got severely injured in an accident during the Giant Slalom Race last November. Shiffrin didn't know a few months back whether she would be able to ski anymore or not. She slipped during the race in front of the home crowd and got injured in the stomach area. Shiffrin also had surgery performed on her, but Shiffrin never lost hope and recovered wonderfully after the injury.
Shiffrin dominated the Women's Skiing World Cup Salmalom competition at Sestriere in Italy and claimed the top position. This has been the 100th of her World Cup triumphs. This has established Shiffrin as the world's leading player with the largest number of World Cup triumphs in this competition. Up till this date, no male player has been capable of attaining this record.
After the historic achievement, Shiffrin said that after recovering from the injury, it was important for me to be fit not only physically but also mentally. The 29-year-old player said that I had never dreamed of reaching this milestone. It takes a lot of time to reach here, for which a lot of sacrifices have to be made. To register the 100th victory, Shiffrin left behind Croatia's Jinkra Lujtic by 8.61 seconds.

Shiffrin won her 15th medal in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. So far, she has won 8 gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. Shiffrin became very emotional after this victory. She said, now things are going right for me. Otherwise, the injury had devastated me. I wondered how I would be able to come out of this, but with everyone's support, it was possible.
