Tom Bruce is leaving New Zealand and representing Scotland. He will play for Scotland in the Cricket World Cup League-2 to be hosted in Canada later this month. The tournament will begin on 27 August. The birthplace of Bruce's father was Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Bruce became eligible for Scotland due to his father. Tom Bruce has also represented Scotland Development in 2016, following which he relocated to New Zealand.

Tom Bruce, the top-order batsman, has been representing Central Districts domestically since 2014. He has played 17 T20s for New Zealand between 2017 and 2020. He has recently represented Central Districts in the Global Super League in Guyana.

Bruce expressed his happiness at joining the Scotland team and said, "My family has a long Scottish history. I know he will be very proud of me representing Scotland. Five years ago, I had the privilege of playing for New Zealand. Now I want to help the Scotland team succeed on the world stage. I know this team has the ability to achieve success and constantly improve."

He further said, "I was part of this setup for a short time in 2016. That was a great experience. I have played with and against many current Scotland players. It has been great to see their development over the years. Now I am excited to join them again."

Bruce first came into the limelight during the 2015-16 Super Smash, where he scored 223 runs at a strike rate of 140.25 for Central Districts. Known for his brilliant batting, Bruce also performed brilliantly in the next season, due to which he got a place in the New Zealand team for the T20 series against Bangladesh. However, he did not get consistent success at the international level.

Bruce scored 279 runs in 17 T20 innings at a strike rate of 122.36, which included two half-centuries. Scotland will play four matches with Canada and Namibia in Ontario between August 29 and September 6. These matches will be held at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City near Toronto.
