There has been a horrific incident in Kerala. Indeed, in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, a youth killed five members of his own family and also his girlfriend. The mother of the youth got injured severely during the assault. The motive behind the murder has not yet been identified. The alleged perpetrator also attempted suicide with the help of a poisonous substance. The incident is presently being investigated by the police.

Police said that the 23-year-old accused youth Afan killed his grandmother, father's brother, father's brother's wife, 14-year-old brother, and his girlfriend. The accused also attacked his mother. The mother was seriously injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The condition of the accused's mother is also said to be critical. After the murders, the accused surrendered himself at the Venjaramoodu police station in Thiruvananthapuram and also confessed to the murders. The accused told the police that he carried out the crime in three different houses. Police said that the accused had revealed that he also tried to commit suicide by drinking poison, but his life was saved by going to the hospital.

Police said that the accused youth was in heavy debt and his family members refused to repay his debt. Angered by this, the youth committed the murder. The accused used to do business in Arab countries, for which he had taken a loan. The accused had taken a loan after suffering losses in business. When the family refused to help, the accused hatched a conspiracy to kill the family members in anger. However, the police doubt this claim of the accused, and the police are engaged in further investigation.
