ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year Award: Given the way India's Smriti Mandhana has performed in women's ODI cricket in 2024, she is a strong contender for the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year.
The star batsman of India, Smriti Mandhana has been selected among the contenders for the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year due to her excellent performance. She has been nominated along with South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt, Australia's Annabel Sutherland, and Sri Lanka's Chamari Atapattu for the annual honor for the 50-over format.
Two centuries against South Africa in Bengaluru in June gave impetus to Mandhana's 2024 campaign. The left-handed batsman scored two more centuries at the end of the year. She remained in good form till December. Mandhana scored a total of 343 runs in three innings against South Africa. After the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, she scored her third century of 2024 with a 100 in the final match of India's home series against New Zealand. Another century came in the final match of her team's three-match series with Australia in December, but it went in vain as the Aussies swept the series 3-0.
Wolvaardt started the year with just seven runs in three innings against Australia, but that poor form did not last long. The South African captain scored in almost every ODI after that series. She scored two unbeaten centuries against Sri Lanka and three centuries in four matches against India in Bengaluru in June. After another half-century against India, Wolvaardt concluded her 2024 campaign with three excellent scores against England on home soil in December.
