Paris Olympics 2024: France beat Argentina to make it to the football semi-finals

France beat Argentina 1-0 to make it to the men's football semi-finals of the Paris Olympics. French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a strong header after Michael Olise's corner kick in the fifth minute of the match, which proved to be the only goal of the match. After this, the best chance for Argentina came in the 36th minute, when the ball was found by the unmarked Soungoutou Magasa in front of the goal on a cross, but the defender's close-range header went over the bar. Now France will face Egypt in the semi-finals.

Egypt has worked hard to beat Paraguay in penalties. In fact, both sides achieved a 1-1 draw in overtime, taking the game to a shoot-out. Egypt won 5-4 in penalty kicks after their goalkeeper Alaa Hamza saved Marcelo Perez's effort from the spot.

Earlier Paraguay seemed to have a better chance after Diego Gomez's goal in the 71st minute gave them a 1-0 lead. Egypt kept their composure and equalized in the 88th minute through Adel Ibrahim's assist from Zizou.
