India's Shreyas Iyer & Co. beat Afghanistan by 7 wickets in the first match of the T20 series between India and Afghanistan. With Afghanistan batting first, they made 156 runs at the cost of 8 wickets in 20 overs. While India in reply scored 157 runs at the cost of 3 wickets in 13.4 overs. With this, India have taken a lead of 1-0 in the series.

In the match, India's Team Captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was not a great beginning for Afghanistan as Jasprit Bumrah sent off Rahmanullah Gurbaz without scoring any run. Then Captain Ibrahim Zadran was run out. He made 11 runs, including two fours. Sediqullah Atal was dismissed for 13 runs, and Gulbadin Naib and Darwesh Rasooli were dismissed for 2 runs each.

Afghanistan lost five wickets for just 43 runs, but thanks to Azmatullah Umarzai's 64 and Mohammad Nabi's 30, Afghanistan managed to reach 156 runs. Rashid Khan faced 10 balls and scored one run before being dismissed by Harshit Rana. Harshit Rana bowled brilliantly for India. He took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy also took a wicket each.
