Spain won the first semi-final against France, defeating the French side 2-0, which put an end to France’s ambitions of winning a third World Cup. Following the loss, French captain Kylian Mbappé stated his disappointment in the loss and that their strategy did not work as planned. They planned to engage in a one-on-one contest with Spain, but Spain held the possession and prevented France from scoring.
The second semi-final ended with a heartbreaking loss for England after losing to Argentina in a spectacular match.
