Commonwealth Games 2026: Lovepreet Singh Wins Silver in Men's 110kg Weightlifting with Commonwealth Snatch Record
CWG 2026: India's Lovepreet Singh won the silver medal in the men's 110 kg weightlifting category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The weightlifters from India have shown exceptional performance in Glasgow and have bagged medals for the country. One such performer who has performed exceptionally well is Lovepreet Singh. He has won the silver medal in the 110 kg weight category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The 28-year-old managed to finish one kilogram short of getting a medal in yet another weight category. Lovepreet achieved a total score of 388 kg to win the silver medal.
Lovepreet managed a Commonwealth record score of 176 kg in the snatch lift. He managed 212 kg in the clean and jerk. David Andrew of New Zealand managed to lift a total score of 389 kg, which included 166 kg in the snatch and 223 kg in the clean and jerk. Andrew Griffiths of England managed a total score of 356 kg to get the bronze medal, which included 165 kg in the snatch and 191 kg in the clean and jerk.
Lovepreet won the bronze medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. This time, he changed the color of his medal. With this, India won a total of eight medals in weightlifting this year, including one gold, six silver, and one bronze.
