To provide better facilities to the sportspersons in the district, the Sports Department is preparing to take the Station Road situated Indira Gandhi Stadium under its control. For this, the District Sports Officer will soon hold talks with the sports association heads and outstanding players and meet the Collector. Sports Officer Ashok Kumar said that there is no dearth of promising sports talents in the entire district including the city. Who just need to be polished. For which the players should get better facilities. Keeping this in mind, the Sports Department is preparing to take the Railway Station Road situated Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium under its control. For this, a decision will be taken after talking to everyone. After which this demand will be placed before the Collector. He told that right now Nagar Parishad Dholpur claims that the sports stadium is under their supervision. That is why the sports department is not able to take any decision from its side.

The sports officer told that there is still lack of order in the stadium. The ground gets flooded during rains and the stand is damaged at many places. At the same time, anti-social elements gather here at night. By coming under the department, better work can be done on the stadium along with its maintenance. So that the players can get better facilities. He said that budget will be demanded from the sports council for other resources including new equipment for the players. So that the players can become proficient in their game. At present the matter is under consideration, a decision will be taken soon to take the stadium under the sports department.

A multipurpose indoor stadium is being constructed in Indira Gandhi Stadium to provide better facilities to the players. Rs 5 crore will be spent on the indoor stadium. Hockey turf, basketball, volleyball and courts for other games will be built in the stadium. The work of the new indoor stadium is also going on at a fast pace. It is expected to be completed soon.
