The war continues between Israel and Palestine. Meanwhile, some countries insisted on recognizing Palestine as a separate state. Singapore stands in the lineup among these countries. Singapore is ready to acknowledge Palestine as an independent state at a fixed time.

Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan announced the decision in Parliament on Friday. He emphasized that Singapore advocates a two-state solution. It also supports the peace-making concept of the United Nations Security Council. Vivian Balakrishnan said, 'There should be an effective Palestinian government that accepts Israel's laws to end terrorism. Both sides have their rights, and the people of both places have the right to live peacefully. The Foreign Minister said this while answering the questions of MPs in Parliament. In fact, on May 10, Singapore agreed to vote for the permanent membership of Palestine in the United Nations.

Vivian Balakrishnan said there was a need to establish peace between both Israel and Palestine. He added that the people on both sides had suffered war for so long. "There is a need to establish peace between Israel and Palestine by working together. That will give them an improved future, people belonging to both countries. Singapore will keep supporting both sides to establish peace as a friend of both countries.".

This year, on the 18th of April, a resolution was introduced by the United Nations Security Committee. The gist of the Resolution lay in how to make Palestine one of the United Nations. On May 10, after all the drama, a vote was cast in favor of Palestine's membership in the United Nations. Singapore voted in favor, too. In this voting phase, 143 countries voted in favor and nine against Palestine. The vote was missing for the representatives of 25 member countries.
