Royal Enfield Scram 440: Royal Enfield Scram 440 has been launched in the Indian market at an initial price of around Rs 2 lakh ex-showroom. Royal Enfield Scram 440 will replace the previous model Scram 411. Many upgrades have been made to this motorcycle.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 has been launched at an initial price of around Rs 2 lakh ex-showroom in the Indian market. It is the successor to the Scram 411, which was based on the popular model Himalayan. Royal Enfield showcased the Scram 440 at Motoverse last year. The new Scram 440 gets a bigger engine, more power, more features, and new colors compared to the Scram 411.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 has been launched in two variants - Trail and Force. While the former is available in blue and green colors, it features tubed spoke wheels and tube tyres. On the other hand, the latter is available in blue, gray, and teal colors and features tubeless alloy wheels. Which is for riders who want a more modern and convenient setup.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 gets an upgraded 443 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It generates a maximum power of 25.4 bhp and a peak torque of 34 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, the new engine has a 3 mm larger bore which helps in producing 4.5 percent more power and 6.5 percent more torque. The sixth gear will help reduce vibrations. However, this will increase fuel consumption. It also has a new pull-type clutch which gives better durability. And there is a claimed reduction of 0.75 kg in lever effort.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 will be offered with spoked rims as well as alloy wheels. So it will have the option of tubeless tyres. It has a new LED headlamp which we have seen on new Royal Enfield motorcycles. It is not the best in terms of lighting. It also has a switchable anti-lock braking system, a USB charger for charging mobile devices, and a Tripper navigation system. There is also the same digital-analog cluster that had worked on the earlier model.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 retains the suspension layout. For this, the former has received telescopic forks on the front end and a mono-shock absorber on the rear side, whose travel goes as high as 190 mm and 180 mm respectively. Braking capabilities are enhanced using the 300 mm front disc with a 240 mm rear disc.
The dry weight of the Scram 440 is 187 kg, which is 2 kg more than its previous model. The bike now comes with a center stand. There is also a provision for a top box with a payload capacity of 10 kg.
