Rahul Dravid will leave the post of head coach, BCCI will soon issue application for the new coach, know the whole matter

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has made a shocking revelation. According to a report in Cricbuzz, Jay Shah has confirmed that BCCI is looking for a new head coach and is going to release the application for its appointment soon. Currently, the head coach of Team India is former legendary batsman Rahul Dravid.

Dravid's tenure ended after the ODI World Cup 2023. But due to the excellent performance of the team, his contract was extended. But now it seems that Dravid is not going to get an extension and the board will soon issue an advertisement for a new coach. According to the report, Jai Shah said, 'Rahul's tenure is only till June. Therefore, if he wants to come back to this position, he will have to apply for it again.

Shah further said that other staff of the coaching staff, like batting, bowling, and fielding coaches will be selected after consultation with the new coach. He said, 'We cannot decide whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign. 'This will be decided by the CAC' Shah confirmed that the new coach will be appointed for a long tenure and will serve for an initial period of three years.

Jay Shah stated that the CAC alone will make the decision about having separate head coaches for various formats. This is not the case in India, where there are numerous all-format players like Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli. America and the West Indies will host the Twenty20 World Cup in June of next month. This decision by BCCI is startling in such a circumstance. The new coach won't be named until after the World Cup, though. In November of 2021, Dravid was named Team India's chief coach.

During Dravid's two-year tenure, the Indian team has performed brilliantly and for the first time in the history of cricket became the number 1 team in the teams' format. Apart from this, the team also reached the finals of the ODI World Cup and World Test Championship (WTC). Apart from this, India won the Asia Cup title and reached the semi-finals in the T20 World Cup 2022.
