After a period of calm in the Indian market, Nissan is set to make a serious comeback. From 2026, Nissan will begin the most aggressive product expansion in the Indian market. At present, Nissan offers only one car in the Indian market, namely the Magnite, but from the end of 2026, the company will offer a total of three cars in the Indian market. In 2027, a fourth car model will be introduced in the Indian market. This new offer will begin with an upgraded version of the Magnite, an all-new 7-seater MPV Gravite, and a potent mid-size SUV named Tekton in the Indian automobile market.

Nissan is set to start line expansion with the MY 2026 Magnite. The upgrade will be restricted to additions to the feature set. No design or mechanical changes are expected. It will continue to compete with cars like the Renault Kiger and Maruti Fronx. The Magnite update is expected to arrive before the Gravite's March 2026 launch. This update will serve as a transition step for Nissan, ensuring the brand's presence is maintained.

Nissan will introduce its new compact MPV, called the Gravite. It will be revealed in January 2026, with prices announced in March 2026. The Gravite will be based on the Renault Triber, but will feature some changes to give it a distinct Nissan identity. It will feature new bumpers and a revised lighting signature, new alloy wheels, and new trim and color options in the cabin. Features-wise, the Gravite remains unchanged. It's expected to feature the same 72hp, 1.0-liter petrol engine, paired with both manual and AMT gearboxes.

Nissan's most significant and highly anticipated offering will be the Nissan Tekton. This SUV will be based on Renault's new Duster and is expected to launch in India around June 2026. The Tekton will be positioned in the country's hottest midsize SUV segment, competing with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra. Design-wise, the Tekton will draw inspiration from Nissan's flagship SUV, the Patrol. It is expected to feature a Patrol-style grille, sharp character lines, and C-shaped design elements. While engine specifications are currently unknown, it is likely to be powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine. A hybrid powertrain is also possible later.

Nissan's 2026 strategy clearly indicates that the company is now taking a serious, long-term approach to the Indian market. Starting with an updated Magnite, a family MPV like the Gravite, and a midsize SUV like the Tekton, these three steps could put Nissan back in a strong position. If pricing and launch timelines are right, 2026 could prove to be a turning point for Nissan in India.
