Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is in Kanpur on Monday, October 26, to mark Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti with a development package worth over Rs 411 crore for the Bithoor and Bilhaur Assembly constituencies. The choice of venue is hardly incidental. Bithoor, on the banks of the Ganga, is traditionally associated with Maharishi Valmiki’s ashram in local belief, making it one of the most symbolically fitting places in the state to observe the sage’s birth anniversary.
During the programme, the Chief Minister will inaugurate 48 development projects and lay the foundation stones for several others. Of the total, completed works worth approximately Rs 266 crore are being dedicated to the public, while new initiatives valued at around Rs 145 crore will get underway. Beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes will also receive certificates at the event.
According to the proposed schedule, Adityanath will arrive at the Bithoor helipad at 11 a.m. and address a public gathering at Nanarao Park at 11.30 a.m., where a large pandal has been erected for attendees. He is scheduled to leave the venue at 12.10 p.m. District officials have inspected the arrangements and completed preparations for the visit.
