Delhi High Court has allowed a man to recover his 19-year-old vehicle from a scrapyard. But he will have to pay ₹1.5 lakh as a fee.
A single-judge bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna wrote in its order that houses, cars, and animals are part of our lives. Individuals form an emotional connection with them, and this attachment cannot be easily severed.
NRI Rajeshwar Nath Kaul's 19-year-old car, which he had brought from abroad, came under the scrutiny of the Municipal Corporation (MCD) after it exceeded the prescribed age limit. The corporation declared it a scrap and confiscated it. Kaul then approached the court and argued about his deep attachment to the car.
