The Delhi government has established a committee to study and evaluate jammer technologies from across the globe for their ability to block mobile signals in jails. The committee comprises experts from IIT Madras, IISC Bangalore, DRDO, C-DAT, and IB and SPG officers, and is chaired by DG (Prisons). The committee will recommend the most suitable jammer technology, including 5G network, to the Delhi government for implementation in jails to enhance prison security and completely eliminate mobile phone use. The committee will also examine the existing mobile network and propose technical guidelines for installing BTS towers around jails.
